The battle of Ising :

The battle of Ising : the untold story of the 130th Infantry Regiment in the Liberation of Davao and Mindanao : Ising (Carmen), Davao del Norte, Mindanao, May 3-10, 1945 /

by: Marie Silva Vallejo

The American forces believed that the guerrillas of Mindanao were strong enough to destroy the Japanese forces that they seriously considered bypassing the island when they returned. Although Gen. MacArthur's General Headquarters in Australia generally regarded the Mindanao guerrilla movement as the best organized in the Philippines, only about 1,000 men received training in combat fighting with only 10,000 rifles and a perpetually short supply of ammunition but they managed to contain the well-armed enemy in towns and cities. The guerrillas of the 130th Infantry Regiment, 107th Division of the 10th Military District owned the jungles as they surrounded the enemy and fought decisive battles that hastened the liberation of Mindanao.
